The MCVLP is excited to announce a new partnership with the Huntsville-Madison County Public Library. Our Lawyers in the Library Clinic debuted on December 19, 2019. Come out to the Main Branch of the Public Library and receive counsel and advice consultations from volunteer lawyers. The Clinic will run monthly on the third Thursday of the month from 9:30am-12:30pm at the Main Branch of the Huntsville-Madison County Public Library.

“The goal of the Lawyers in the Library Clinic is to contribute to the Madison County legal community’s effort to help individuals who cannot afford private legal services by coordinating and facilitating access to information, advice, and referrals provided by local volunteer attorneys,” said Nicole Schroer, Executive Director of MCVLP.

Appointments are not necessary as participants will register on the day of the clinic and will be seen on a first come, first served basis. At the clinic, licensed volunteer attorneys will conduct free consultations, assessments and referrals with clients who have legal problems and concerns.

Volunteer attorneys help with matters including, but not limited to, family law, landlord and tenant issues, guardianships, small claims, bankruptcy, debt collection and public benefits.  Volunteers may not have experience in all areas of the law.
